Office 2016 Windows Activation Loop by mwhalenhtc on Dec 8, 2015 at 17:02 UTC Houston Technology Consulting is an IT service provider. The latest version of QuickBooks Online is unknown on Mac Informer. It is a perfect match for the General category. The app is developed by RbCafe. QuickBooks Online. Developed by RbCafe.
I have clients with versions back to 2007. They send me files, I make corrections to their entries and send them corrected files for their future use. I purchased QB 2018 in early October because a client upgraded before they sent their information to me. As soon as I downloaded QB 2018, it made all the other versions of QuickBooks and QB 2018 inaccessible. I called support and they got them running (really another story completely, but all the versions were working for a while).
Now 30 days later I cannot access any of the QB programs from 2009 to 2018. I have to call them again. I wish I had never purchased QB 2018. I need to do some work and can't.
After reading some of the threads on the internet, I guess I am lucky I got this far. Some people were having the same problems back in 2012 that I am having now. I've been using Quickbooks for almost 20 years, I use it because I know it, I use it because my accountant ues it, and I use it because all my books are 'locked' into the format. I don't use it because I like it.
I've learned to live with it, learned to figure out how to fix what it breaks, and learned to get around its inadequacies. Ever since Intuit developed their online service they've pretty much abandoned the desktop version. This is fine, because my 2015 version works about as poorly as the day I installed it. Unfortunately, Intuit has a 'forced' upgrade path.
They 'sunset' their desktop versions so you can no longer connect to your banks. This isn't for any other reason than to force you to upgrade. It's not unreasonable to stop supporting older versions of a software, Apple does it, Microsoft does it.
The infuriating thing is that Intuit doesn't really give you ANYTHING for upgrading. The 2018 version of Quickbooks is nearly identical to the 2015 version, and it is as clunky and poor as ever. What's worse is that in the 3 years of development, they haven't resolved some of the bank feeds. I still have to download my Citibank feeds manually. As with previous versions, this one will expire on May 2021. They've set this arbitrary date and it's printed on the cover of the physical media box (although not clearly indicated here). If there was another option which I could easily move my books over to, and that my accountant supports I'd do it in a heartbeat.
In the meantime, I get to get fleeced by Intuit every few years with forced upgrades to really poorly developed software. We are always adding and updating features in QuickBooks. For the 2018 release, we added new inventory reports and multi-monitor support.
To check out to full list of new features here: I want to make sure you can download your transactions please email me at [email protected] so I'm able to work with you to resolve the banking issues you're having. Looking forward to hearing from you. Grant, Intuit Support Specialist. I've used Quickbooks for years. Honestly, I hate it. Unfortunately, they have very few competitors, so they can charge exorbitant prices for their inferior products. Also, they practice false advertising on a regular basis.
Don't believe me? Go to their web page and look at their 'support' page. It clearly states that 24/7 support is available. Try calling after 6 pm PST and you'll eventually be greeted with a voice message that they are closed and to call back during regular business hours. As for the software, it's slow. Support costs a fortune and you are forced to upgrade it every 3 years for most of the beneficial features.
And, there is no 'upgrade' path. You pay the full price for the product, which starts at $300. These issues appear to be an Intuit culture thing. They handle all their products and support in the same manner. Fortunately, I've found alternatives to the other Intuit products, and am happy with those products. Quickbooks is the only Intuit product left that I use, and every three years, I look for an alternative. Unfortunately, nearly all of them are cloud based which have limited features as compared to the desktop version.
Even QB Online version is severely limited. One day, I hope to ditch Intuit, for good. REVISED AGAIN This is a continuing saga. Short version: now the program requires me to 'update password' at least three times every time I open the program. Technical support's only solution: they think that the 'encryption is being corrupted somehow' (not an issue with any of my other encrypted files) so want me to stop using the product while they ONCE AGAIN take all my data in-house to see why. This is supposed to be a product that enhances productivity.
Instead it's a complete productivity killer. I'd save time and aggravation buying one of those old-timey green 13-column ledgers, a couple of sleeve garters and a green eye shade and doing my bookkeeping like Bob Cratchit did in 1843. REVISED - UPDATED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS, DO NOT CALL 1-888-419-5877 FOR TECH HELP!!! I got that Technical Support number from a Web site that looked like the authentic Intuit QuickBooks support web site, but it was a scam site cleverly disguised as the real McCoy. The review I wrote below is an account of my experience with the FAKE tech support people.
When I posted it, someone (a very nice guy named Phil) from Intuit read it and contacted me directly by email (from '@intuit.com') to see why I was so irate at them. I called him back at the number he provided, and together we got the problem fixed (mostly - I only lost a few weeks' worth of transactions, not four years' worth) within the space of an hour or so. He was great to work with, and I'd give him personally six stars if I could.
